This 📚 has been an oldie but goodie that we have revisited because it honestly should apply to all rehab we can think of, not just ACL’s. And who doesn’t love when a good ACL case can teach you things?
.
We would actually argue that if it’s not ❌ intense rehab (keep in mind “intense” is very relative to the person, their goals, etc), it’s probably not even “good” rehab in the large majority of ACL populations. But intense would look VERY different 3 days post-op vs 7 months. But ones ability to exert their selves with what is available to them should still be the goal.
❓What does “intense” look like to you? And better yet, your patient❓
.
And to us, and the authors… motivation can be facilitated through ✅ brining importance to why one is doing what they are. Explaining to them why they feel the way then do when they walk because of their lack of quad output and what they are currently doing to address this. ✅Testing them frequently, setting markers, and hitting those marks week to week, month to month.
.
We would challenge you to consider how you may apply these concepts to any and all patient populations. What are your thoughts? 🤔 We would love to know👇👇👇⁣⁣⁣
